Who am I?

Before I get into what I am doing here, I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.

My name is Lukas, I am seventeen years old and still a student. I’ve been coding for years now, but discovered my real passion for iOS programming in the summer of 2022, after which I built project after project. This and last year I’ve been recognized as a Swift Student Challenge Winner (an Apple coding competition) and released my first two apps on the AppStore.

Thanks to Twitter/X and its community I met a lot of people and finally found my way here - to TelemetryDeck.

Why did I do an internship here at TelemetyDeck?

Last year I asked on Twitter/X if anyone knew a great place for a (short term) internship and Lisa replied and offered me one right here! It took some time, but this year I was able to do this internship right in the middle of the holidays, for which I am very grateful.

Of course I knew TelemetryDeck long before I did this internship. Not only that, but I also use it for some of my projects to keep track of the most important events.

What did I (try to) do in two weeks?

After a short discussion with Daniel we decided that the best thing for me to do would be to help get the iOS Telemetry Viewer App up and running again, which hadn’t been available for months due to massive API changes. So we’ve set some goals for these two weeks to get the basic functionality working again, improve the charts and allow the user to switch their organization. Danial helped me a lot and thanks to Tuple we were able to do a lot of pair programming so he could guide me and explain principles along the way,

While we weren’t able to finish all tasks, the basics are working again, so maybe you’ll see TelemetryViewer on your home screen again soon :)

Editor's note: soon is now!

What did I learn?

Even though the time frame was limited, I was able to learn a lot about structuring code and managing it with GitHub. I also got the chance to attend some of the sessions focused on marketing and landing pages, which definitely gave me some useful insights on how to treat different customer groups based on their custom needs.

In the end, it was really a super interesting and informative internship where I got to meet some amazing new people besides the actual “knowledge”. You can always find me on Twitter @custusfox.

Thanks for the amazing opportunity to write this post and to do the internship in general.

Editor's note: The honour is hours! Thanks so much for your time, dedication and hard work <3
