This chart shows the top major versions of the iOS operating system for each week in the last year. Values are percentages.

For the purposes of this survey, iOS also includes iPadOS, so this data is from iPads as well as iPhones. However, other spin-offs of iOS such as tvOS or watchOS are not included in this chart.

Some interesting observations are:

  • After its launch in September 2024 iOS 18 has by far become the version with the highest share. It was at 87.33% at the end of August 2025.
  • iOS 17 was the version with a very dominant share of over 87.50% as of end of August 2024. It has dropped to 4.79% as of end of August 2025.
  • iOS 19 and iOS 26 are in general the same version of iOS with the difference being that only apps with Xcode 26 -currently still a beta version- are actually reported as iOS 26. For that reason, iOS 19 is most likely still to be reported for an extended period of time. For this survey the sum of iOS 19 and iOS 26 is taken and displayed as iOS 26.
  • Digging deeper into the ratio between iOS 19 and iOS 26, at the end of August iOS 26 was responsible for over 95% of the accumulated value displayed in this chart. The combined total of the iOS 19 and iOS 26 has increased from 2.39% at the end of June to 4.55% as of end of August.
