Data-driven feature rollout
Meet Philipp, who started app development at the age of 15 and gained 500 daily active users with his app in just about a year!

Podcast UX for audiobooks
DramaPoint is the easiest way to enjoy audio dramas on Apple Music. It’s built specifically for spoken-word storytelling, with playback optimized for audio dramas. The app automatically tracks your listening progress—just like a podcast player—so you can pick up right where you left off.

The app started with 10-20 daily active users. Currently, DramaPoint has about 500 DAU, which is an incredible success for an Indie Developer!
An app for families, nostalgic adults—and Philipp’s younger self
DramaPoint is the app Philipp wished he had as a kid.
He created a solution that fills the gap between Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, combining the best of both worlds. His goal was a highly native design that feels perfectly at home within Apple’s ecosystem.
One key target group is adults who regularly listen to audio dramas. Many parents also use the app to play audiobooks for their children—which is why Philipp implemented Family Sharing early on.
But there’s another fascinating user group: adults who regularly listen to Die drei ???, the iconic German-language audio drama series that has been around since 1979—first on cassette, then on CD, and now via streaming. Around 16% of DramaPoint users listen to stories from Die drei ???. Their stories are quite popular: 28% of all audio dramas played on DramaPoint are exactly from this series. Usage data revealed something even more interesting: older episodes—the ones that likely trigger childhood memories—are streamed more frequently than new releases.
The importance of usage analytics for roadmap decisions
Philipp first discovered TelemetryDeck through another app developer. He appreciated how easy it was to implement—even as a beginner—and that it is fully GDPR-compliant and respects user privacy. Avoiding Google APIs was important to him, and TelemetryDeck’s open-source SDK was a major plus. In fact, Philipp even contributed to it himself.
From early on, he used analytics to better understand feature adoption and guide product decisions. His strategy is simple: release a small part of a feature, measure adoption, and then decide whether to expand or rethink it.
For example, Philipp considered removing a view he believed was redundant and poorly designed. However, TelemetryDeck’s navigation tracking showed that the view was used frequently. Instead of deleting it, he improved it—a decision driven entirely by data.
Another example is the onboarding flow. Analytics revealed a clear drop-off point in the funnel where users were getting stuck. Visualizing the problem made it much easier to identify and resolve.
For Philipp, checking the DAU chart daily is also deeply motivating. Watching user numbers grow makes him proud—and TelemetryDeck’s weekly email reports are something he genuinely looks forward to.
TelemetryDeck is a great app analytics solution for beginners
TelemetryDeck’s generous free tier is an important argument for everyone starting in the app development industry. Philipp just grew out of it and became a TelemetryDeck customer. He recommends TelemetryDeck to anyone, especially beginners: „It’s so easy to get started! “
