How a Danish enterprise ensures GDPR-compliance with EU-based app analytics

FK Distribution is a Danish company with more than 60 years of experience distributing advertisements, newspapers, and magazines to Danish households. FK employs more than 9,000 distributors, the majority of whom are young people—many of them in their first job.

At FK Distribution in Denmark, we have developed an employee app for our more than 9,000 distributors, which was launched in October 2025. The app functions as a central and efficient work tool with features such as route maps, distribution information at the address level, issue reporting, route completion, and much more. To support our new digital platform in the best possible way, we needed an analytics tool that can both deliver valuable insights and meet our high requirements for data security.

Built for apps used by young people under the age of 18

GDPR compliance is a non-negotiable requirement for us, not least because many of our distributors are young people whose data we have a special responsibility to protect when using our digital platforms. Many of the analytics platforms on the market involve data processing in third countries or complex data transfer setups. This can increase risk and create uncertainty from a GDPR perspective, so we started looking for an alternative.

The alternative became TelemetryDeck, which offers a solution based in Germany and thereby ensures that user data never crosses the borders of the EU. In addition, TelemetryDeck is built on principles of data minimization, anonymization, and full transparency—factors that made them a good choice for us.

Strong collaboration and support

During the setup phase, TelemetryDeck was extremely cooperative, flexible, and quick to provide guidance. From onboarding to the conclusion of the data processing agreement, we have experienced a professional, attentive, and efficient service that has created a solid and trustworthy collaboration—something that has been particularly valuable in our initial work with the tool.

Insights into feature usage and adoption

“Insights are essential to improve the app, but with young users, privacy comes first. TelemetryDeck enables us to make better product decisions without exposing our users to unnecessary risk.”

Jeppe Mieritz – Head of Marketing

TelemetryDeck provides us with precise insights into how our distributors use the app, which features create the most value, and where there is potential to optimize the user experience—all accessible through a user-friendly interface.

So far, we have especially benefited from these insights:

  • Development in the number of active users with a focus on adaption and targeted initiatives
  • Which features and sections in the app are used the most
  • Overview of where functions are accessed from when they can be reached in multiple places within the app
  • Information about which app versions users are running in connection with new releases

These insights enable us to make informed decisions about further development and targeted improvements.

A shared commitment to responsible analytics

TelemetryDeck has already proven to be a secure, collaborative, and data-responsible solution that matches FK Distribution’s needs and effectively supports our new primary digital platform for our distributors. The combination of strong GDPR compliance, clear and user-friendly insights, and a close and well-functioning collaboration means that we are very satisfied with our choice of TelemetryDeck as our analytics tool.
