(Deprecated) Ingest API v1
While we have SDKs available for Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript and Unity, developers who work with other languages and frameworks can also use TelemetryDeck by sending signals via HTTP POST request directly to our ingestion API. This is what our SDKs do.
This article will first show the minimal structure needed for a signal to send, and then talk about some of the optional extensions.
Ingest Endpoint

Body Structure
The post body should be an array of JSON objects, because you can send multiple signals at once. Each signal object should have at least these properties:
appID
(String): Your app’s ID in TelemetryDeck (check the app settings to find that out)clientUser
(String): The hash of some sort of non-changing identifier of your user. This can be their email address, user ID, an identifier you gathered from their phone, etc. You need to pseudonymize this with at least SHA256, otherwise you’ll be in breach of the GDPR. We’ll use this value to count users, so anything that distinguishes one of your users from the next is fine.sessionID
(String): Any string that identifies the user’s current session. We usually use a UUID that we regenerate when a new session starts (e.g. the user launches the app). If you don’t want to count or track sessions, it’s okay to add an empty string here.type
(String): The signal type, usually the name of the event that caused the signal to send likesettingsShown

(Array of String): Optional metadata to send along with your signal. Note that this is not a dictionary, but instead strings that delimit key and value with a colon:

Payload Structure
For reasons of mostly performance and database compatibility, the payload must not be a dictionary but instead an array of strings with a colon, like so:

This means you cannot use a colon in the key part of the payload. Using it in the value part is fine, we only match the first colon in the string as the delimiter.
(Note: This is a daft implementation and we will change this in the next version of the API to just accept a dict, but for now it is what it is.)

Extension: Custom signal timestamp for Caching
If you implement a caching solution where signals are not sent immediately in order to save battery or work around a network availability issue, you can store them locally and send them later.
In that case it might be helpful to store the time at which the signal was triggered locally and pass it along to the server.
To do this, you can optionally supply a receivedAt
property for each signal. The value must be an ISO8601 string with time zone like so:

Note that when the receivedAt
property will be rounded down to hourly granularity on receiving.
Dates that lie more than 24 hours in the past will be replaced by a date that lies exactly 24 hours in the past.
